Heather Schramm, MD

Heather Schramm, MD

Dr. Schramm grew up in California and received both her MD and a PhD in genetics at University of California at Davis. She fell in love with pediatrics after having two children while in medical school and next completed a pediatric residency at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital in Nashville. She has been practicing medicine for over 10 years, with a breadth of experiences ranging from working as a pediatric hospitalist for a major children’s hospital to practicing in rural Alaska. Due to this diverse background she is comfortable managing all aspects of pediatric care from newborns through young adults. She has a special interest in caring for children with complex medical conditions. She also manages common pediatric conditions such as asthma, obesity, developmental disorders and ADHD. Outside of work she enjoys living an active lifestyle with her husband and children. Her free time is spent at her children’s softball games and karate competitions, as well as often competing herself in running, cycling, and obstacle course racing events.
Care Philosophy

Dr. Schramm believes in the importance of educating parents so that they can make informed decisions for their children. She feels it is important to remain “down-to-earth” and has a talent for explaining complex topics in simple terms. She also focuses on putting children at ease and is often seen sitting on the ground in exam rooms to examine children or with a happy toddler in her lap as she talks with a mother.
